Comprehensive Modernization Luis Pales Matos Housing Complex

The project consists of a complete remodeling of all facilities on the site.  Two hundred and ninety-eight dwelling units were remodeled to provide a better quality of life for its residents, especially handicapped residents that were lacking proper living facilities.  Handicapped units were redesigned to fully comply with ADA and UFAS requirements.  The facades of the buildings were also redesigned to accommodate the expansion of front and rear porches.  Site improvements consisted of providing parking spaces for each dwelling unit, including handicapped spaces, enlarging existing streets and providing new sidewalks and walkways with handicapped access.  A guardhouse was added to provide access control.  The community center was also remodeled by adding 3,000 s.f. of new construction, that will house a new library, convenient store, bathrooms/showers and cistern that will allow the center to be used as a refuge.  Work done under commission for Guillermety Ortiz & Associates.
